Procedure Overview

In this procedure, you will design a PLC program to control the number of ales of a plastic injection molding machine. This program will require you use a combination of event-driven sequencing, time-driven sequencing, and CTD instruction.

Scenario: You work as an engineer for a company which has designed a new plastic injection molding machine, as shown in figure 48. This machine has three basic components to perform the steps of the injection-molding process: the injection unit, the clamp unit, and the ejector pins.

plastic material is supplied to the machine's hopper in a granular or pellet form. The plastic is heated until it melts Then it is injected or forced into mold cavity. The injection pressure is held for a period of time until the plastic part is solidified in the mold. The pressure is then released, the mold opens, and the newly-formed plastic parts are ejected by the ejector pins from he machine.

Your task is to write a PLC program to control the injection molding machine.
