Type of heat exchanger: Shell and tube with two tube passes and one shell pass.

You are given the assignment to design a heat exchanger whose length should not exceed 5 m (length of the heat exchanger not the tube). The aim of this project is to increase your ability to solve real world problems which are characterized to be ill-posed. That is, the given data is not enough to solve the problem and thus you have to make some decisions and careful assumptions such that you can solve the problem.
The objective of the heat exchanger is to heat water at 9 kg/s from 20 to 60o C, which is inside the tubes.

The heating medium, in the shell side, is saturated steam at 150 kPa and it is condensing on the outer side of the tubes and has a condensing heat coefficient of 8000 W/m2-K. The outer diameter of the tube is 2 cm and the wall thickness is 0.3 cm. It is expecting that the inside tube to have a fouling coefficient of 5000 W/m2 -K. The water pressure inside the tube is 101 kPa.
