Question: Consider the process shown in Fig. This process is used to manufacture product E from the reaction of A and B. The output from the reactor is product E and some unreacted reactants, mainly A, which are referred to as liquid C. E

and C are separated, and liquid C is recycled back to tank T104 to be fed back to the reactor, as shown in the figure. The amount of B fed to the reactor depends on the amount of A and on the amount of C fed to the reactor. That is, there must be some B to react with the A, given by the ratio R, = B/A, fed, and some B to react with the C, given by the ratio R, = B/C, fed. You may assume that all the flowmeters provide a signal related to mass flow. Design a control scheme to control the total flow, T, in lb/min, into the reactor.
