Rationale

Various digital logic designs such as coat converters, decoders, encoders, comparators, multiplexors, adder-subtractors, multipliers, counters, registers, memory, and programmable logic such as PLA, PLD, ROM etc. are used as building blocks in the design of the central processing unit (cpu or processor) and special purpose processors (for input-output).
