Assignment:

Jeff works at a vocational day program. There have been complaints of him throwing away all his work tasks whenever it involves assembling packets of papers and placing them inside envelopes. You notice that Jeff often gets paper cuts whenever he has to sort these papers and when he does, he typically refuses to work for the rest of the day. You have also noticed that he only engages in the problem behavior whenever he gets a paper cut. Your assessment has determined that the behavior is maintained from escape from the assembling task. As an intervention, you provide Jeff with thick gloves to wear while doing this task and implement an exclusionary time-out any time he attempts to discard or throw the paper.
