In this exercise, you will support or refute the idea that senior management has a critical role in the success or failure of projects.
Using the web or other venues of your choice, try to find three examples of each of the following:
Descriptions of the roles and responsibilities of a board of directors, where their fiduciary responsibilities include taking direct action with projects that involve major capital expenditures.
Stories about senior management's role in project success and failure, where at least one of those stories mentions the board of directors.
Training for senior managers where the agenda includes topics that are relevant to their roles on projects. For your examples, try to find at least one where the board of directors is specifically mentioned as a target audience.
Based on your findings, write an opinion paper that supports or refutes the following statement, in whole or part: "Senior managers do not have or need in depth project management knowledge. This is evident when searching for content that describes senior management roles and responsibilities as they pertain to major projects (if it were important, it would be easier to find more information about it)." Summarize the findings that support your opinion.
