PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AT NATIONAL GARMENTS LLC

At National Garments LLC., managing Performance is an ongoing process. Employees are provided an understanding of the expected behaviours and the job results. Five categories of behavior have been established for all employees (including senior administrators and new employees): customer focus, teamwork, creative problem solving, continuous learning, and diversity. Those supervising other employees are expected to demonstrate two additional behaviors: strategic communication and performance management. The supervisor and individual establish expected job results as part of the planning stage. These expected job results are based on the goals of the department and the individual's job description.

Supervisors provide feedback so that there are no unexpected surprises at the end of the year. Throughout the year, the supervisor should call attention to both good behaviors and those that need improvement. The supervisor will document the individual's performance based on feedback from a variety of sources, including his or her own direct observation, third-party reports from customers, peers, direct reports (if any) and managers with whom the employee interacts .

The employee and the supervisor assess performance during the year based on the job results and behavior expected and overall performance ratings are assigned. Fifty percent of the rating is based on job results, and 50% is based on behaviors. Formal performance review meetings are conducted. The formal meeting gives the employee time to discuss past performance and achievements.

The final step of the performance management system is the reward. Pay and performance are designed to reward those who contribute to the success of the organisation and employees are evaluated at the end of the fiscal year.
