1. Post a description of the health policy you selected and a brief background for the problem or issue being addressed. Explain whether you believe there is an evidence base to support the proposed policy and explain why. Be specific and provide examples.

2. Look at the question in a broader/nursing view. The ANA, CCNA, ENA, AANP, and many other professional nursing organizations are involved in policymaking. Medicare/Medicaid also impact healthcare. The media also influences healthcare. Nurses present their needs to Congress.

You could participate in a nursing organization or in a consumer organization. You could visit a local health department. Discuss needs with your organization's leaders. Each group/organization has needs to bring to the local, state, or federal level. Just choose two ways for nurses to become involved. Also, two ways to advocate for these opportunities. For example, going to local nurses' meetings, going to senior centers, parent-teacher groups, etc.
