1. Among the following, which one would not be the best description about the Cultural Revolution in China?

1. From your instructor's and many historians' point of view, the Cultural Revolution was absolutely needed for the betterment of a new China.

2. The Cultural Revolution created an enormous distrust among the Chinese people toward the Chinese Communist Political Party/Politicians; the Chinese people who held different ideologies from the communist state's were severely punished and felt fearful of the communist government.

3. The Cultural Revolution had to be denounced by the pragmatists later on such as Deng Xiaoping in order to implement their new economic policies that adopted some forms of "market system" of capitalism. But they were still obligated to appreciate and feel grateful for the political achievement of Mao in the early 20th century.

4. The Cultural Revolution destroyed a big portion of the traditional Chinese Cultural values/social mores such as respect for elders and for education.The vast majority of the Chinese had to violate many of the traditional social ethics in order to survive under the draconian communist regime of Mao.

3. Chiang's military was less equipped than Mao's counterpart. From the start the Soviet Union supplied a sufficient modern weapons to Mao; whereas, the U.S. refused to supply Chiang with modern weapons. Even though Chiang's army had a greater morale than Mao's, Chiang was defeated by Mao.

4. Chiang behaved like an emperor without a serious consideration of the poverty/humiliation of Chinese people. Eventually, a considerably larger number of Chinese people began to support Mao who was believed to be a true nationalist fighter against Japan and a better guardian for the Chinese people.
