Explain the sociological significance of bureaucracies.

Societies are developed over hundreds of years as people choose to live in community together. There're several things that cause people to join together and give up certain freedoms in order to live in the community.

People join together for protection from enemies or the environment. They join together to share resources thereby freeing up time to develop more advanced technologies. They join together as a result of shared religious beliefs.
