Marcos and Nadia are a husband-and-wife team who write popular children’s books. Marcos writes the stories and Nadia illustrates them. Their son Julio is pursuing a double major in systems engineering and business at a school known as the number one university to watch. Julio is very excited about an idea he and his project team developed for a series of personalized children’s stories. Julio’s parents are interested enough in his idea that they have agreed to invest in the equipment and software Julio needs to get started, and to help him with story lines and artwork. Julio has planned his system development as follows. Marcos will write a set of about a dozen story lines. He will also write a short, child-centered description of each story line and each of the roles in each story. Each story line will have five or six different roles – main character, best friend, main antagonist, etc. Nadia will illustrate each of the stories. She will draw a large number of faces of different genders and ethnicities. Each face will be drawn from all the angles that appear in the story illustrations. Julio will develop a form that allows a customer to select a story line, and then to choose a name and a face for each character in the story. He plans to write software to merge the image of the chosen characters into the proper places in the illustrations and insert the chosen names into the proper places in the story. After the merging has taken place, the book pages and cover can be printed on high-quality, durable paper and bound into a book. With the investment capital his parents have provided, Julio plans to buy the software he needs, a printer, and equipment that will allow the book to be assembled immediately after printing. Julio wants to offerMyStory as both an online business and as immediate-delivery retail kiosks that can be set up at shopping malls and community festivals. He has dreams of turning his idea into a national franchise.
