Racial Inequality & Policy Paper -
For your final paper, you will be describing a specific social problem related to racial inequality, evaluate various policies (already implemented and/or not yet implemented) to mitigate that problem, and finally propose the best policy solution.
For your paper, address the following:
1. Define the problem or issue: What is the specific problem and what have commentators, scholars, and politicians said about the problem? How is your problem a part of racial inequality? For example, the racial wealth gap or hiring discrimination.
2. Present and analyze the data/studies: what does the data and/or studies reveal about this problem? Draw conclusions that make sense about the data/studies. What do these studies tell us about the root, nature, and impact of the problem? Cite the scholarship.
3. Present and evaluate the policy proposals: describe at least 3 policy options that have been implemented or proposed to address your specific problem. How do these policies mitigate the social problem and what are their benefits and costs?
a. PESL analysis: how do political, economic, social, and legal factors affect the feasibility of the policy options. Consider five criteria: political feasibility, administrative feasibility, racial equity impact, legal viability, cost effectiveness. Include chart.
