Question: Hey Zachary, Great analysis. Annette Lareau's study describes the socioeconomic status of the middle, working, and poor class and how they perceive their children's success. She also details the belief system that each class pushes and perceives how their children should succeed. The perception of each type varies because of how economically and socially they are set up. Although a lot of what she observes is correct, she states that some classes have some outliers. She comments on how a poor-class child might end up graduating with honors and going to college but might have a more challenging time reaching that goal. I can relate to what she observes as I found myself without a support system when I graduated high school. Many of my friends with a higher social class went straight to college, while I found myself trying to attend community college but couldn't afford it, so I dropped out my first semester.
