Question: In a written and signed agreement, Dan hired Susan to build a horse paddock fence for a total of $8,000. Dan told Susan that a horse would be there in two weeks, and thus the fence had to be completed before then. Susan agreed that she would have it complete within two weeks. Twelve (12) days later, Susan threatened to stop working unless Dan agreed to pay her an additional $1,000 for the exact same fence. Feeling pressured because the horse was to be delivered in two days, Dan agreed to Susan's demand for more money. When Susan finished the work, Dan refused to pay her the extra $1,000.
