Description - Problem statements ground a phenomenon of concern within the larger context of the problem and identify the need for the project. Once the larger problem is articulated, you should also identify the specific problem proposed for the research. Problem statements must be of sufficient depth to be sustainable through the entire project process.
Purpose statements provide a summary of the goal(s) of the project, are aligned with the clinical research question, and are posed to address the problem.
Write a 525- to 700-word paper in which you address the clinical problem and purpose statements of the study for your DNP Applied Project.
Part 1 - Problem Statement - Present the problem in general terms and then narrow the focus to the specific problem to be studied.
Develop a clear discussion of your problem that:
Provides information about the background of the proposed problem/dilemma in your clinical setting
Describes the general problem and specific problem
Articulates the importance of the problem to your clinical setting or patient population
Part 2 - Purpose Statement - Present a purpose statement that is aligned with your identified specific problem.
Develop a clear, succinct discussion of your purpose that:
Describes the method, design, and objectives in a clear introductory sentence.
Articulates why the project is being conducted.
Explores the impact the project will have on your clinical setting or patient population. Include how your project will reach a diverse population of people.
Defines the general population and geographic location related to your project.
Describes how the project objectives will be met and how your project will ensure inclusion and equity for your patient population.
