Apply the model of romantic relationship development to a romantic relationship that you are in or one you were in. (If you don't have any experience in romantic relationships of your own, you may choose another, real romantic relationship whose development you have personally witnessed (your parents, a sibling, a best friend, a close co-worker, etc).
First, give some background information on the relationship - just what is needed to understand the analysis - how did you meet, how long were you together, are you still together, etc?
Then, if the relationship is over, explain the relationship in terms of the stages our textbook describes. Did you go through each stage? How do you know? Was your communication in each state consistent with what the book describes? Roughly how long were you in each stage? Be thorough with your description of each stage. For example, in the Growth stage, the text describes 6 growth stages. Describe all that applied to your relationship.
If you're currently in the relationship, explain the relationship in terms of the stages our textbook describes up to the stage you're in now. At what stage are you now? How do you know? Was your communication during each stage consistent with that described in the model? Roughly how long were you in each stage? Be thorough with your description of each stage. For example, in the Growth stage, the text describes 6 growth stages.
Whether you're still in the relationship or not, discuss the following: Did you go through stages that aren't in the model? Are there ways you could modify the model to describe your relationship more accurately? Overall, do you feel like your relationship is consistent with the stages of development described in the text?
