Each month, across the globe, there are 823,000 online searches for the term "jigsaw puzzle". While they were already enjoying increased interest prior to Covid, the pandemic only served to further increase consumer interest in jigsaws. As a result, annual worldwide sales of jigsaws are estimated to have now reached around $13 billion. Assessment Task 3 requires you to provide a Marketing Strategy for an imaginary/hypothetical jigsaw company that is based in Australia. You can adapt this context any way you like (e.g. number of pieces, material the jigsaw is made out of, the final image the jigsaw will form when complete etc.), just so long as you stick to the basic context of a jigsaw.

In preparing your Strategy you MUST follow these guidelines:
1. Format: Structured-essay. A structured-essay is simply an essay with sub-headings. The six sub-headings for Assessment Task 3are:
1. Describe your Target Market.
2. Describe your Positioning Strategy.
3. Describe your Product Strategy.
4. Describe your Place Strategy.
5. Describe your Promotion Strategy.
6. Reference list (which can be limited to just your Prescribed Textbook).

2. It is an open-book test. Hence in this regard, it is identical to Assessment Task 2 in that you will be able to consult your textbook to help you complete it.

3. Unlike Assessment Task 2, there is no option of group work. In other words, this is an individual assessment task. To help ensure this, Assessment Task 3 must be submitted via Turnitin.

Just as with Assessment Task 2, the primary focus of this task is NOT on jigsaws (that's simply the context) and it is NOT on the Marketing Strategy (that simply provides the structure for your answer). All semester you have been studying Consumer Behaviour and so the sole purpose of Assessment Task 3 is to assess your understanding of Consumer Behaviour theory (e.g. personality, motivation, the self, decision-making, groups, lifestyle etc.). Hence, in providing your Marketing Strategy on jigsaws, you must make direct and constant reference to specific Consumer Behaviour concepts that you consider to be relevant to the Assessment context.

5. To point out the obvious, the 6-part structure outlined above means that you are NOTrequiredto provide an Executive Summary, Table of Contents, Introduction, Conclusion or a Price Strategy. However, due to the need to focus extensively on Consumer Behaviour theory, you will need to reference your work.
