Reflection paper is intended to have you reflect back to Professional Nursing Concept course and consider how much you have changed personally and professionally, in preparation for graduation and transition into your new role as Professional Registered Nurse. Each of the 5 prompts must be addressed in the paper. The formatting for this paper is APA 7th edition format. Writing should be in first person. Each section of the paper should be titled the topic of the prompt (i.e. Introduction, Noticing, Interpreting, etc.), and should be fully developed based on answering the prompts.

Professional Reflection Paper

1. Introduction: Briefly describe your future professional plans. What are your professional plans for the first year of licensure? What professional plans do you have for the first 5 years of licensure?

2. Noticing: Describe what you noticed about Professional Nursing Concepts during your first semester, then progressing to second, and finally third (this) semester. Describe what you noticed as you spent more time in the courses learning about how relevant professional nursing concepts were and how they affect your future as a nurse.

3. Interpreting: What thoughts or observations did you have during your clinical experiences (CCH, simulated ATI, or hospital) that were related to concepts you learned in Professional Nursing Concepts? Describe how your thoughts and observations were more understandable once you applied the concepts for the Professional Nursing Concepts course? What behaviors, either yours or an instructor, supported your observations?

4. Responding: After considering what you saw or did not see, in your clinical experiences did your learning goals change in the course? What did you do to adjust how you applied the professional nursing concepts in your clinical experience?

5. Reflection: What other applications are possible for Professional Nursing Concepts in your professional life? With respect to clinical judgment, what ways did Noticing, Interpreting, Responding, and Reflecting on Professional Nursing Concepts help improve your patient care? How will this change in clinical judgement impact your transition from a licensed vocational nurse to a registered nurse?
