Instructions
Again, to begin this module, you will complete a "Roll Call" exercise. This is an opportunity for you to practice and refine your presentation skills. You will review a question (see below), you will then formulate an answer, and record your response in a short video for your classmates to view.
You will record your video directly into the discussion board. When you click in the "reply" field, a larger writing field will appear. Use this button :1 to open the recording tool. Refer to the rubric to guide you through this portion of the assignment by clicking on the above cog icon and selecting "Show rubric." Here is a link to a tutorial on how to record audio and video.
Your presentation should be between one and three minutes long. Focus on using clear and concise language. You should see improvements in your presentations as you apply new knowledge and skills as you progress through the course. Dress in professional attire, practice your presentation so you do not have to "read" from a script, you can prepare a small cue card with key points and briefly refer to the cue card to keep your presentation on track.
After posting your video, review your classmates' videos and provide meaningful comments that demonstrate comprehension and analysis to at least three of your peers' videos. Always be respectful and courteous in your videos and your replies. Please ensure you post your video well before the due date to allow your classmates to post their comments to your video and you can reply to their comments.
The topic:
Describe your best experience working in a team.
The format (Note: There are new additions):
Pick an agency and a job title for which you might work. Imagine you currently hold this position and introduce yourself as such. For example:
Good morning/afternoon/evening, I am Constable/Officer of the police/Public Safety agency." Then say, "I am talking to you about ." Then speak about the topic.
Stand up to record your video. Standing up increases your presence and allows you to practice presenting in a more realistic manner. As an officer, you will not be sitting down when you introduce yourself and/or present. Ensure you have selected a suitable location and backdrop for your video recording.
