Prompt: Choose a significant event in your life that resulted in a change in your view of the world or taught you a lesson.
Purpose: This essay will give me the opportunity to get to know more about you and along with what you have experienced in life. So, think about an experience and how it changed you or one you learned a lesson from. You might want to write about what it was like to move to another country, getting married, becoming a parent, or another idea you can think of.

Length: The essay must be five paragraphs. Double-space your essay, use Times New Roman font, size 12.
This is a basic 5 paragraph essay.
• Introduction:

» Describe what your story will be about, if there are other people in the story then introduce them so I know who they are
» Write the thesis. This is the main point of your story, the message, or the theme.
Focus each body/developmental paragraph on the following by using chronological order (from beginning to end):

» Focus on your feelings, and places that were involved that all led to the moment in your life that changed you or taught you a lesson.
• Conclusion:Finally, conclude your essay. Include anything you think I should know that would help you succeed in ELL1080 or questions you have about class, writing, etc. Try to end the essay by giving me something to think about.
