Problem: Book Review
To write your review:
Begin with a brief summary of the content of the book. Your summary should give a reader, who is unfamiliar with the book, a sense of what the book is about and what ground it covers.
After succinctly describing the book, provide a critique that includes 1) the most significant lessons you learned from reading the book, 2) how you think this book informs the debate on the topic, and 3) anything you think could be improved (i.e., Was anything significant left out? Was the book clear?). Do you think the book is accurate, interesting, and contributes to the field? Why or why not? What are the book's strengths; what could the author have done better? Also include any issues you disagree with and why. Where you disagree, make a case for what the problem is and how it could be addressed. Simply noting that you disagree is not enough. Book Reviews should be no longer than 800 words. Your grade will be based on the following criteria:
I. To what extent do you accurately describe what the book is about?
II. Do you offer a reasoned, insightful, and well-argued critique?
III. Is your paper well executed (i.e., is it well written, well organized, and the appropriate length)?
