1. Disassemble each hydraulic pump.

2. Neatly sketch or take a photo and label the parts of the pumps .

3. Describe the function of each part.

4. Describe verbally and by sketch, how each pump operates.

5. Answer the following questions about each pump.

A. Is it positive or non positive displacement? Why?

B. Is it fixed or variable displacement? Why?

6. Reassemble the pump and move to the next station.

Part B

Linear Actuations

1. Disassemble, sketch or take a photo the parts, explain the function and label each part of the following linear actuators.

A. Norgren air cylinders (large and small).

B. Lockheed nose gear actuating cylinder.

C. Orange industrial cylinder.

2. Observe the double acting rod end cylinder (power steering), and the telescoping cylinder.

3. Note, name and sketch or copy the different cylinder mounting methods.

4. Observe the reservoirs on several machines in the lab or shops. Discuss how well they meet general design criteria for industrial reservoirs.
