Part 2: Identifying What Needs to Be Done

Turn to Chapter 9: Preparing an Integrated Project Plan in our Project Management textbook and review the Identifying What Needs to Be Done (Scope Management) and Step 1: Breaking Down The Work sections contained on pages 151-156. Using your team Course Project, create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) displayed as a tree diagram as shown in Figure 9-5 in the textbook on page 156. Please create a tree diagram as in Figure 9-5 and not an organization chart type of diagram as displayed on pages 154 and 155. As mentioned in this section, the WBS is a graphical tool, in this case a tree diagram, that displays how major work elements comprise smaller pieces of work. "It is perhaps the most fundamental tool needed in the project planning process" (Heerkens 152).
