A cylindrical glass beaker with a maximum volume of 4.00 Liters (L) is divided equally in half by a phospholipid membrane such that there is a left and a right side. The beaker is filled with 2.00 L of distilled water (1.00 L on each side) at room temperature. 14.00 grams (g) of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and 6.00 g of glycerol are dissolved in the water on the left side of the membrane. 3.00 g of ATP and 6.00 g of glycerol are dissolved in the water on the right side of the membrane.

1. How should you describe the tonicity of the solution on each (left and right) side of the membrane for ATP?

2. How should you describe the tonicity of the solution on each (left and right) side of the membrane for glycerol?
