Learning Outcome : Know about end of lifecare Case studies
1. Farah's motor neurone disease has now progressed further and she has lost allmobility. She has begun to think about her options for her end of lifecare.
2. Jacob is finding it increasingly difficult to breath, and now has oxygen therapy dayandnight. He is unable to walk, has lost a large amount of weight and finds it difficult to eatanddrink. He is concerned about the amount of care his wife is now having to give himandhow this is likely to increase as his condition deterioratesfurther.
Your task is- To write a Report
For the case studies above, produce a report about the end of life care options, using both the case studies above carefully.
Tasks
Your report must include:
1. A description of the support that will be available to individuals like Farah and Jacob as their conditions deteriorate, including strategies and frameworks available. Describe 3
2. The choices that individuals like Farah and Jacob have and a description of the moral and ethicalconflicts that they and their families/carers face.
3. A summary of the limitations of the choices Farah and Jacob can make within current frameworks. Summarise any conflicts that may arise between the choices Farah OR Jacob may wish to make and wider society and the limitations imposed by current frameworks.

The Report will also include a discussion taking into account the moral and ethical conflicts that are often challenging for individuals and their families.
2. Introduce the concept of ‘End of life strategies and interventions' read pages 252-254 describe what this is and means. It is important to describe the difference between ‘curative' treatment and palliative care
3. Describe 3 strategies and frameworks available to individuals such as Farah and Jacob (P11)
4. Using sub titles, list and describe the typical moral and ethical conflicts confronting individuals and their carers for end of life care(M4) (GENERAL)
5. Discuss 2 examples for Farah and Jacob each explaining the difficult choices they may have to make (M4)
6. Using subtitles, summarise typical moral conflicts/choices between individual choice and wider society (D3) (GENERAL)
7. Choose to discuss for EITHER Farah OR Jacob, the conflicts from choices made between them and wider society, within the limitations imposed by current frameworks in society.
8. Provide a summary conclusion which summarises your Report.
