The focus of this assignment is to begin to think about advocacy, community health nuising, and Healthy People 2020. Please post a response specific to each of these items 1, 2, 3, and 4. You must address each question within each item.
Question 1. Advocacy-Review the Social Justice PowerPoint. What needs for advocacy are in our community? Select one need and then describe how the advocacy process could be used. Who would be the participants in the advocacy situation? Could there be intermediaries in the situation? What actions could be undertaken by the advocate? What might be the consequences of those actions? The Public Health Leadership Society's code of ethics states that the voice of the community should be heard and that the marginalized
or underserved in a community should receive "a decent minimum" of health resources.
Question 2. Describe the standards of care for community health nursing and more importantly, how they differ from the standards of professional practice in general or in your specialty area? Considering the competencies needed (Stanhope & Lancaster, Box 1.3, p. 10) and the essential areas needed to specialize in Public Health Nursing (Stanhope & Lancaster, Box 1.4, p. 11), present your case on the minimum educational preparation for the Public Health Nurse.
Question 3. Chapter 2 includes the historical contributions of nursing leaders in the late 19th and early 20th century: Lillian Wald, Clara Barton, Dorothea Dix, and Margaret Sanger to name a few. Share the significant contributions and notable accomplishments of ONE of these leaders in social and health care reform.
