Homework: Module One Project Preparation Guidelines
Overview
Healthcare professionals play a critical part in global health by analyzing health issues across the planet. As a healthcare professional, you may find an opportunity to improve specific health concerns across the globe. As the world becomes more connected, your responsibility to affect change becomes more relevant and essential. These opportunities may range from medical help to humanitarian assistance. In the course project, you will propose a humanitarian aid trip addressing a particular health challenge for a targeted population.
In this initial homework, you will select the scenario for your humanitarian aid trip, including the population. Next, you will identify the social determinants of health for the scenario you have chosen. According to the World Health Organization website, "The social determinants of health (SDH) are the nonmedical factors that influence health outcomes. They are the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age." Identifying these determinants are critical for the success of your project.
