Course description

This course introduces learners to the services and workings of operating systems. It exposes them to details on how an operating system controls all the processes of a computer system including those of peripheral devices.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:

a) Describe the role of an operating system in the management of system resources;

b) Acquire an in-depth understanding of the processes and principles involved within the design and operations of operating systems;

c) Explain how the performance of the computer system can be measured.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, the student should be able to:

a) Appreciate the role of an operating system in the management of system resources;

b) Utilize the principles that govern system operations to improve system performance;
