In Eduardo Galeano's story, "Chronicle of the City of Montevideo," Galeano describes the relationship of two strangers, Julio and Alfred, who became friends. The men meet at a café, find out they are neighbors, and then through conversation, food, drinks, and shared memories, develop a fondness for each other.
- Describe a relationship, with your friend that is or was meaningful in your life. In the introduction of your essay, tell us what you have learned about friendship in general from this friend, and in the body of your essay provide more specifics about the nature of your relationship. Show us through the details how and why your friendship is or has been important to you. How do the details you include prove the general observations about the value of friendship that you stated in the introduction of your essay.

Writing Tips:
The paper should show how well you understand the story. This should be apparent in the quality of your examples from the text as well as any examples from your experiences/ your observations of the world.
Each body paragraph should have a clear and single claim that is supported by an example/ evidence and logic. The logic should be most of the paragraph.
Each body paragraph should support your thesis in some way and show a progression throughout the paper. In other words, do not make the same point over and over with different examples.
The essay should have more than four paragraphs -- at least.
