Add scripture -Briefly describe the range of emotions the judge might be feeling, and the genuine moral conflicts with which she might be dealing. The judge could be feeling many things especially if she is a mother herself. Because we don't know the circumstances or what the defendant endured from her husband that caused her to commit this crime it is tough to say whether the judge will lean towards a more lenient or severe sentence.

However, the feelings must come in waves and through it all she must remain impartial and put aside any prejudices that may result from the defendant's behavior or the victim's dislikeable personality. Although I'm sure she felt empathy for the women she must remain moral and exemplify justice, making certain that her choice is grounded in the law and the facts rather than her emotions. One thing the judge could keep in mind is that there is a probability that the defendant can take the case back to court if the murder was based on an act of self-defense. In that case assuming that the judge is a woman of God she can remember the scripture In Isaiah 43:25-26 ".
