The public is aware and concerned about the large amount of personal data collected by government agencies, companies and social media sites through the use of electronic devices/applications and unique identifiers typically associated with the Internet of Things (IoT). This rich and complex data appeals to social researchers, but on the other hand, issue about privacy, ownership and commoditization of all data collected is also concerning. Design a qualitative study that addresses these social issues with the main aim of exploring people's awareness of this issue, how likely they are to voluntarily use IoT devices, as well as whether they tend to view data as their own (belonging to themselves), understand the value of the data, and demands more control over its use.
