Question
The centennial movie theatre, located in Scarborough, Ontario has enjoyed over 10 years of rapid growth. As blockbuster movies were regularly released, its audience levels were increasingly high such that two additional theatres were opened during the spring of 2019. By the end of 2019 the theatre had hired a talent base of 150 full and part time staff.
Like many businesses, and since the onset of covid 19 pandemic, the centennial movie theatre has seen a significant reduction in audience levels and as a result, revenues have been dramatically impacted. Given the realities of the ongoing closures and reopening of business activities in the city of Toronto, the theatre has no choice but to consider the validity of operating its 3 movie theatres.
As senior HR planning analyst, you have been invited to the next senior leadership team meeting to present options the theatre will need to consider.
To fully prepare for this meeting, you will need to:
Describe the purpose of a corporate strategy and how it differs from a business strategy and
Describe the various restructuring strategies so that senior leadership is suitably informed to make decisions that will directly affect their way forward. They expect to be in a position to implement required changes as early as January 1, 2022.
