Overview
In this assignment, you will choose a set of standards from your subject or grade level and analyze them by writing competencies to match your chosen standards.
It is recommended that the standards are based on the area you are currently teaching or will be teaching near the end of the course, but this is not required.
Also, reviewing the instructions for the other assignments in this course may help guide the standards you choose.
Instructions
For this assignment, complete the following. Use the Standards to Competencies Template provided in the Resources to guide your work.
Part 1: Analysis
For your chosen subject area, define standards, outcomes, objectives, skills, targets, and competencies.
Using metacognitive techniques (flow charts, mind maps, brain writing, et cetera), describe the processes necessary to write the competencies.
Describe how understanding of targets, skills, outcomes, and objectives serves as a guide to write a competency from a standard.
Part 2: Standards to Competencies
Choose five standards. Indicate the type of standard (practice standard, performance standard, or application standard) for each.
Write competencies that fit the standards.
