A horizontal cylinder thermally insulated and closed in both ends has in its interior a diathermic piston that can move without friction. Initially the piston is fixed in such way that it divides the volume in two unequal parts, V0 to the left and3V0 to the right. The left side volume contains an idealgas of temperature T0, and pressure 2P0. The right side volume contains the same type of gas, but a temperatureT0 and pressure P0. Now, it is permitted to the piston to move.

a) What are the final temperatures and pressures for each side?
b) What are the final volumes?
c) Describe the process that causes the piston to stop. Are these processes quasiestatic?
