Your child comes running inside the house crying after playing outside. To your horror you notice a rusty nail sticking out of their foot. Apparently they stepped on the nail. Describe the process of injury, inflammation and repair that will be occurring in their foot. Include in your description the classic signs of inflammation and the biological mechanisms that cause these signs. Both the chemical and vascular components of the inflammation response should be included. Also, include healing and repair process that will be expected to occur. Describe what medicines could be used to treat various aspects of the injury (e.g. pain, infection, inflammation) and how they effect the biology of the injured tissue. Be detailed, be specific in your answer. A good answer should utilize most of the vocabulary words in the relevant sections.
