Case Study: Mr. Smith is a 30 y/o man with Bipolar Disorder. He is admitted for his eighth psychiatric hospitalization after an overdose of antidepressant medications. • Stressors leading to his hospitalization include stopping his medications about four months ago, losing his job and recently quarrelling with his 14 y/o daughter. • Although he has been divorced for three years, Mr. Smith's ex-wife continues to provide him with emotional and fnancial support. Before the divorce, the family experienced severe fnancial difculties because Mr. Smith went on shopping sprees during manic episodes. His erratic behaviour, sleeplessness, and sudden disappearance from home for days at a time distressed his wife and children. Currently, he wishes he could reunite with his wife and children and worries that his daughter may never forgive him for the hurtful things he said to her in their last quarrel. He continues to have suicidal thoughts but has no immediate intention to hurt himself
