Mr. James is a passionate, energetic and knowledgeable teacher in his third year of teaching. When you walk into Mr. James' social studies room you will see outstanding curriculum, engaging technology integration and great ideas being taught and caught. Though Mr. James' room is innovative and engaging, he simply doesn't have a grasp of how to maintain the energy level and relaxed environment his students have come to expect. When things are going well, it is awesome, but when things get off track, he loses the class entirely. He has tried sarcasm and humor, but his students are only in 4th grade, so some of his comments are lost to them and their maturity level. Mr. James is growing frustrated that his time spent outside of class planning, which is considerable, is being wasted as few if any of his students stay engaged for an entire lesson. Compounding the problem, though he has created strong assessments to follow his quality lesson plans, the lack of focus has created poor test results.
