Mr. BB, a 60 yr old Caucasian male, enrolls in your fitness center to begin an exercise training program. He is apparently healthy with a 15 yr history of hypertension. His goal is to improve his health and fitness and reduce his risk for heart disease. When he was younger, he did heavy resistance training and powerlifting. His medications include aspirin (325 mg/d) and atenolol (50 mg/d). He has a family history of premature heart disease. He drinks three or four cans of beer with dinner each evening. Diagnosis Mr. BB has a lengthy history of hypertension. Additional risk factors include obesity, age, family history, dyslipidemia, sedentary lifestyle, and elevated alcohol consumption.
