Your supervisor has tasked you with writing a proposal for either a functional business system (FBS) or an enterprise business system (EBS). The specific choice of system is up to you, but you will need to show the value of the system compared with alternatives, so you will need to learn about more than one system. Because these systems are expensive, you probably will not be able to work with this software for this report. IT professionals with similar tasks frequently encounter this issue. To learn enough about the system to write the proposal, collect all the data that you can about the system, including feature lists, reviews, and interactions from other students and the instructor with your post in this unit's Discussion Board assignment (if applicable). Most software publishers have marketing material available on their Web site, which can help with this. Product reviews and comparisons may be helpful as well. Your report must be in APA format and written as an academic paper. Do not directly address stakeholders or attempt to generate emotional interest. Focus on the requirement that your supervisor has given you, which you can create and explain in your opening section. Make sure that your preferences are present in the paper and that they are supported with citations and references based on your research. For this proposal, most of your references are not required to be peer-reviewed or from academic publications. However, you must support your opening problem statement with at least one academic source.

In your proposal, explain precisely how the system will support the IT department of your organization. The details of the organization are up to you. Later in your paper, provide specific examples to show how the software will support specific business functions. In your paper, you should provide a number of examples along with explanations of how the system handles them.

You must compare the system you are proposing to at least two other options. Explain why this is the best approach. One of these comparisons might involve a system that your company is currently using. You can invent the details, but be careful not to misstate the other system's capabilities.

Cost is not relevant to this proposal and should not be considered in your paper. Training is a relevant issue, and if training is available for the system, it should be included, along with an explanation of the relevance and an examination of the available training and how it will benefit the organization.
