1. Describe the nature of the control process. Identify its basic steps and the three basic methods of control. Explain how specific policies and procedures related to grading used at a college or university could be seen as an example of the control process, and specify which method(s) of control your example(s) represent.

3. Define equity theory. Identify five ways in which people try to restore equity when they perceive that they have been treated unfairly.

4. Compare and contrast charismatic and transformational leadership. Explain why ethical transgressions are less likely among transformational leaders than they are among charismatic leaders.

5. What is the difference between a leader and a manager? Explain your answer with references from your text or other sources. Explain the relative importance of leaders and managers to the success of organizations today in each respective role.

6. Explain Expectancy Theory including its components and relationship to motivation.

7. Identify the three different methods or paradigms for managing diversity. Specify which level of diversity each paradigm focuses on. Explain which approach you personally believe will make the greatest contribution to helping U.S. companies manage diversity more effectively in the future.

8. Identify and explain the advantages of the Balanced Scorecard approach to control over traditional control processes.

9. Identify and briefly explain the traditional approach to controlling financial performance.
