Policy I chose below:
Employee Benefit Under Affordable Care Act At my organization:
The policy has been established to look after the health of employees and make sure that they are covered under the act so that in case of accidents or mishaps the medical bills do not threaten the very survival if employees
Affordable Care Act was enacted by the government covering the employees. Mandatory and applicable in US to each organization to protect and safeguard the interests of employees and their health.
The act mainly incorporated a health reform policy for employees focused on providing health insurance to them.
Under the policy "Employer Share Responsibility Mandate" is established under which full coverage is provided to maximum employees in an organization employing more than 50 employees who cannot afford health care expenses in case of afore mentioned mishaps , thus the policy operates to prevent them from pressure of bearing these huge expenses and provides flexible choices to employees for the type of coverage they want to fall under and aims at incorporating strong employee protection.
Through incorporating this policy, at our place of employment which has more than 50 employees working, the employers who previously did not fall under the insurance coverage are being covered by it now, the employers thus failing to provide the insurance coverage will be subject to penalty. For the employers who have less than 50 employees are not subject to mandatory health care insurance policy. Under the ACA employee benefit scheme, the employer penalty regulations have been implied as per which the employer who does not offer to its employees the full-time employees are subject to penalties of $3000.
The act was basically implemented to improve the quality of care being provided to the employees and decrease the rate of uninsured employees through enlarging the private and public coverage and at the same time enabling them to afford the health insurance.
The Act is named so because it aims largely at reduction in the costs associated with the healthcare for the employees as well as the government through its establishment.
The Act was also being called Obamacare as it was signed by Barrack Obama , the president at that time almost in 2010.
The affordable care act is a piece of federal legislation that apart from providing the large coverage under employee benefit also attends to the exploitation by insurers through enforcing certain limits on them as to what they may or may not do with respect to the insurance eligibility and coverage.
The act holds belief that the federal govt has a large part to play in reforming the health in US by regulating and providing protection to people.
For successful implementation and participation, various agents and middleman have been entrusted with the role of making employers as well as employees understand its benefits
The act aims to expand access to health care. To protect the patients from arbitrary actions by the private insurance companies. To prefer preventive measures rather than the curative one in organizations to full time employees. To reduce the cost associated with health care in cases of emergencies in organizations due to mishandling of machinery or any such cases.
The Affordable Care Act is based on the primary and fundamental purpose of making health care affordable to low income employees who work at low positions and are full time workers so that they get benefitted by having an access to it, and to cover the workers or employees with no or less coverage
The most important concern of the act is the area of insurance premiums and out of pocket cost of employees which the act aims to reduce.
The another priority of the act is to attend to the underinsured employees , meaning those people who are insured but their coverage does not offers protection from high medical expenses , thus are under insured.
The major benefit of act is that since its enactment, the cost associated with health care has been reduced by a considerable amount through making preventive health care free for those falling under this coverage.
It addresses the critical areas such as mental health, addiction and various other chronic diseases
To benefit the employees who might not be able to afford large medical bills of health care. Moreover apart from employee benefits, USA has a history in spending huge amount on health than any other nation, but the quality of healthcare in organizations has been witnessed as worse contributing to the death tolls in organizations due to mishaps, incidents of fire or due to poor working conditions, or lack of emergency service or no preventive measures like protection through uniforms, masks, helmets.
Thus the act was enacted to insure employees against any sort of damage to life or property. Because of inability to fulfill the huge expenses and large medical bills. USA has witnessed low income employees lacking access to healthcare and insurance.
The costs associated with the healthcare had seen a rising trend without even benefiting the large as most needy, poor and uninsured Americans thus largely depend just on the 911 services and emergency room visits as their primary source of care facility if any employee faced consequences. This system became expensive , insufficient and deprived the strength, ability and vitality of emergency departments and exhausted the resources available.
In order to address to these issues the Affordable Care Act came into being to solve the cost problem and also save the out of pocket costs for large medical bills by covering employees under its insurance program.
The act has been modified to now also
Cover the EHB's Essential health benefits which include various services offered to insured people such as ambulatory service, Maternity care to female employees.
The progressive vision of US has made it establish ACA at the place of employment to provide universal coverage and to Overhaul the rate of preventable deaths from illness and improving the health care service was basically the stepping stone behind its formation .
It clearly states "that everyone including employees or workers should have access to the quality , affordable health care , and to ensure that just because of sickness nobody should ever go broke"
