Question: In our society, we are inundated with messages that weight loss is always good, usually by people trying to sell a fad diet system. This week we will be investigating different diet plans to determine if they are healthy or not.

Initial post:

For your initial post choose a weight loss diet and provide a brief overview of this diet. Use the following questions as a guide for the information that should be included:

Who wrote/created the diet? What is their educational background or credentials?

In your own words, describe the major dietary principles of the diet.

What foods and/or nutrients are emphasized in the diet?

What foods and/or nutrients are limited or excluded from the diet?

Is there a claim made for the amount of weight that can be lost in a given period of time?

Does the diet also recommend any physical activity or an exercise program to follow?

We want to try to get as many different diets represented as possible, so please check the discussion board before posting to make sure you are choosing a unique diet to writ3 about.
