Project Information

The planner for your company has left to work for an opposition building company and the management of your company has asked you to prepare a detailed schedule to carry out the works described in Assignment #2 for construction of a precast concrete warehouse and Office for at Lot 15 BilbySt, Campbellfield, Victoria 3061.

Assignment Requirements - What You Need to Do:

Prepare aone page briefing note for the Construction Manager and attach your MS Project schedule.

Gantt Chart Presentation:
- The Gantt chart for this assignment is to be printed landscape (A3 size preferred). It should on one page andcomprise the completed Gantt chart, with Tasks, Durations, Start dates, Finish dates, Total Slack, Predecessorsand Successor columns.

- The version of Microsoft Project that Swinburne has on the server is the MSProject 2016. These are on virtually all Swinburne machines. At home you can download MSP2016 for a 30 day free trial and it will be compatible with the Swinburne software.

Briefing Notes to be submitted as Part of Your Assignment:

The schedule briefing note should explain the important issues you uncovered in preparing the schedule and include at least the following issues:

1. Describe the major activities that are on the critical path.

2. Describe the activities or groups of activities with significant float, and include the number of working days float for each.

3. Assumptions made (apart from those given to you in your briefing) and any changes that might have been required to the briefing notes and your reasons for the changes.

4. Schedule risks you are able to identify and your recommendationson how to change the schedule to recover the lost time if these schedule risks actually happen.

5. A comment on any significant differences between the construction schedule and the bar chart schedule used for the (Assignment #2) tender cash flow.

A briefing note should be professionally prepared but does not require an extensive description or introduction. The Construction manager to whom this is addressed is well aware of the project and just needs advice on the planning and scheduling issues you encountered and your recommendations on how to plan and co-ordinate the work.
