Research Report on Big Data Ecosystem
Big data are created by business transactions and social events. Big data support not only daily business operations but also smart decisions, such as predicting business trends, deepening customer engagement or optimising operations. Nowadays big data computing has become the most important part of enterprise computing because the big data computing infrastructure supports the sustainable development of enterprises. In this assignment, you are to write a research report to critically review the big data ecosystem. To complete this report, you need to have a good understanding of the listed issues in this specification and are expected to do personal research.
The report is to be structured as a formal academic report and the sections must be titled and numbered. Your work must be appropriately referenced by using Harvard (author-date) referencing style. You are not required to provide an Executive Summary for the report. An Exemplar for Writing a Simple Academic Technical Report is available on the unit website; you should read it before writing your report. The length of the report should be about 1,300 (±10% is allowed without penalty) words.
Section 1: Introduction
In this section, the student's report is to introduce big data and challenges to the traditional data processing technologies, and big data ecosystems. The layout or the reading map of this report should be described in this section as well.
Section 2: Big Data
In this section, the student's report is to describe the four Vs properties of big data, and the student's report is to describe the goal and features of big data processing.
Section 3: Big Data Ecosystem
In this section, the student's report is to describe the infrastructure (core) of the Hadoop big data ecosystem. After that, the student's report is to describe some supplementary or supporting systems to the Hadoop infrastructure. That is,
1. One of the distributed coordination systems of the Hadoop ecosystem.
2. One of the data collection/aggregating systems of the Hadoop ecosystem.
3. One of the data storage systems of the Hadoop ecosystem.
4. One of the data processing/analytics systems of the Hadoop ecosystem.
Section 4: Conclusion
In this section, the student's report is to conclude/summarise the goal and constraints of big data processing and the key issues of using the ecosystem for big data processing.
