A student tells you that if he pushes horizontally on a book which is lying on a table, that he will never be able to accelerate the book because Newton's 3rd law tells him that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Thus the force he pushes against the book with will be counteracted by the force with which the book pushes on him. Describe the flaw in his argument. Assume no friction.
