Assignment: Now is the time to think like an economist! You will use your newfound knowledge of fiscal policy and economics to examine a current national fiscal policy issue or action. The decisions that Congress makes regarding fiscal policy can and will affect you on a practical level throughout life. Being aware of and considering these fiscal policy actions will help you make better, more rational choices.

Question A-Respond to the following questions regarding fiscal policy in complete sentences:

  1. Define fiscal policy. Include the goals and tools of fiscal policy and the entity that controls it.
  2. Should Congress make a law mandating a balanced federal budget? Support your position with evidence from the lesson.

For example, you might find that Congress is currently debating a new spending bill or just agreed to a tax cut.
