Learning Outcome: This assessment covers - Apply professional soft-skills and work practices in a global IT context.

Introduction - Practical activities will be detailed via classroom and tutorial sessions, as per the course schedule. There will be a weekly reflective-practice component, delivered via an updateable EIT Wiki submission, drawing on lessons learned and tasks designated in that respective week, as well as TWO specific larger tasks scheduled within the semester.

Deliverables - Weekly entries into the designated Wiki on EIT Online, for tasks as directed in the respective tutorial sessions. Specific tasks as directed below.

1. WEEKLY TASK

A separate entry into the designated wiki each week, consisting of 2-3 paragraphs only, to cover the following aspects :

a) Clear description/definition and linked context of the chosen topic featured in the respective week's teaching, or external event or technology relevant to the topic, and commentary or application to IT Management best-practice within organisations, or industry-wide or global (you must clearly explain how it relates to the week's topic!)

b) Brief reflection on activities and learning's for the respective week / topic using one of the reflective practices models.

c) A question which you would want asked/answered relating to the ensuing week's topic (next week).

2. Business Intelligence and Data

Using the MS Dynamics NAV CRONUS trial ERP system to deliver a management decision-making artefact.

BUSINESS FUNCTION DATA REQUIREMENT

Describe the features of the JET Report / workbook - what elements exhibit good design practice; what data is being extracted; who is the intended user, and what decisions might be made as a result of this report's output

Activities: Describe the query, listing tables, how they are related, and the important fields

Observations: after running the report, what does the data show about this organisation; how long did the report take to execute

BUSINESS FUNCTION DATA ARTEFACT

1. Provide a screen-shot of the SQL script you have constructed

2. Provide a screen-shot of the output from the SQL script which corroborates the JET output

Activities: export the data (screenshot of text file here), import the data into excel (screenshot of successful import), create a pivot table with sufficient data to replicate information shown in the original JET report (screenshot this pivot table, and a screenshot of the original JET Report output to match, here)

Observations: comment on the speed of execution of your SQL script; the exporting process for data to text file, and the import of the text file into MS-Excel, and the creation of a pivot table to generate the same data as the original JET report, and compare/contrast with the JET Report process
