This exercise is a continuation of your own previous exercise related to Kids Count. use the topic (Infant Mortality Rate (IMR)
You need to think about your target audience and what might be the best way to inform and educate them on the topic you have selected. For example, if you are looking at tobacco use in teens, then what is the best way to get your information to the teens? Should you use the school newspaper, or a billboard at in the football stadium? In this exercise, you will develop a twenty-five word message that you wish to get to your target audience and suggest three ways to get the information out. You will then select one of the three identified methods of message delivery that you believe would be the best method for getting your message out and indicate why you have selected that particular method.
Step 1. First, identify your target population that is at risk. The target population for this program is _______________________.
Step 2. Provide a message that is no more than twenty-five words related to your topic that you would want to get out to your target audience. Keep in mind the materials from the Risk Communication presentation when you draft your statement.
Step 3. Now that you have identified the target population and your message, list three possible methods to reach the population with your message.
Step 4. What type of media method would you use to reach the target population, and why would you select that type of media to reach your target audience? (Media could be radio, television, newspaper, Internet. billboards, bus signs or whatever you come up with that you believe would reach your target audience.)
Step 5. Design a message to inform, educate and empower target populations to address a specific health issue.
Step 6. Describe the factors that influence effective message design for health communication.
