I am working on researching the ethics behind abortions. I am to pick a side and argue the ethics behind abortions in a research essay. I am pro abortion, below I have attached my topic summary which was my thesis on top of the philosophers I was going to talk about to further strengthen my argument.

For the outline/annotated bibliography:

I. Outline: The outline should address the major sections of your paper. The outline should include major headings and sub-headings, and demonstrate a clear sense of the logical progression of your paper.

II. Annotated bibliography: The annotated bibliography must include the normal bibliographic details for a source (author, date, publisher, etc.), but also a summary paragraph of the book or article, highlighting the value of the source to your topic. Your annotated bibliography must include at least three books or journal articles (Wikipedia does not count as a journal or book).

For the research essay:

A. Describe the ethical issue and why it is important.

B. What did at least 3 philosophers say about it in your research?

C. What do you personally think about it? (Be sure to state the reasons for your position.)

D. Must identify the issue in applied ethics clearly.

1. Must provide relevant background or factual data, enough for someone unfamiliar with the topic to gain a sense of clarity on the issue.

2. Must discuss the ideas of at least three philosophers on the chosen topic.

3. You should also give some sense of balance by summarizing opposing views--in other words, what do the people who support this issue have to say about it, and what is the position of those opposing it?

4. Weigh in with your own conclusions.This is the most important part of your paper, because here you are arguing for a position and challenging your readers either to accept your view or at least to come up with cogent reasons why they should not.
