QUESTION 2 300 words

Discussion: Importance of Recommendations

Whether you conduct research for a thesis or in your professional practice, you want it to have meaning. A discussion of your findings, while necessary, does not extend the scope and implications of your research. How do you want your research to be used?

The recommendations section of your thesis provides you the opportunity to suggest how your research can be used to inform future research, improve the lives of people in the community, and change policies. After reviewing this week's readings and considering your own research findings, respond to the following:

1. How do you view the importance of the recommendations section of your thesis?

2. What effect do you hope your research findings will have on the practice of Public Health?

3. How can you use the recommendations section to bring about your desired effect?

QUESTION 3 500 words

Submit Assignment: Providing Recommendations

The provision of recommendations is critical to a well-written research paper. First, it demonstrates your understanding of the scope of your research and its contribution to the existing body of knowledge. Second, it encourages and provides direction to others to build on what you have discovered in your research. New knowledge is based on the discoveries of the past. Your research could be a building block for future exploration of your research problem.

Using the outline you developed for the conclusion section of your research paper in Week 4 and this week's resources, discuss your recommendations including the application of your research in Public Health practice and policy, as well as identifying areas for future research. This includes implications for social change. Remember to conclude this section with your "Take Home Message".

Research topic: How HIV and AIDS Education may Influence young Adults to change their lifestyle in Nakuru Kenya?
Introduction:

Young adults usually face developmental changes both physical and emotional and are more eager to experiment and discover new things. During this phase, young adults tend to grab any information they get from any source.

However, television, social media, magazines displaying messages of smoking, drinking, and sex makes them abstinent. Contrary to those religious backgrounds, culture and morals stigma are often keeping them inaccessible about their health and various risks associated with it along with the measures that can keep them safe. HIV/AIDS, one of the most widespread diseases is a major challenge. In the recent times, newly developed treatment and care might have decreased the number of cases but cases among young adults are still on major rise (Adedigba, Bamise & Bamise, 2011). The major health concern in Nakuru Kenya is HIV/AIDS among the youths and street children due to issues such as stigma, poor education on HIV/AIDS, abstinence etc.

This research proposal is designed to determine the influence of HIV/AIDS education on young adults and how it can be used in the prevention and control of disease. The research will be carried out majorly focusing on young adults. It is a designed qualitative study while considering the facts of HIV/AIDS epidemic in Nakuru, the role of education to impact the magnitude of HIV/AIDS. (Irungu, Varkey, Cha & Patterson, 2008)

Background:

It was concluded from various reports on HIV/AIDS education in Nakuru that in order to impact the young adult's behavior it is important to provide secondary education. As primary knowledge regarding the disease is present but specific knowledge about the disease is still lacking.

Various studies also acknowledged the reason behind the poor education among young adults on the disease. It was reported that they usually get dubious information on disease resulting in lack of information and negative health impacts. Therefore, it is a matter of concern that this lack of information can result in life and death. So, proper content and processing of education on HIV is really important to eradicate myths and stigmas related to HIV, reduction in fear and anxiety, behavioral change etc to help in creation of compassionate response among young adults on the disease and for the better health conditions. (Oramasionwu, Daniels, Labreche & Frei, 2011)

Literature Review:

Oramasionwu, Daniels, Labreche & Frei (2011) stated in their study that HIV/AIDS is a pandemic disease which has caused major effects in African countries such as Kenya. It has resulted in reduction of workforce, increasing rate of poverty, and has influenced the transformation of the household structure in rural areas.

It has largely affected the fragile relationship between education and livelihood of young adults in the regions. Similar study by (Adedigba, Bamise & Bamise (2011) revealed that a high-level of misconception is present among youths in Osun State, Nigeria. They have found mass media as the primary source of information which negatively affects the beliefs and give encouragement to stigmas related to the disease.

They have advised in their study about a multi sectoral approach for educating youths on HIV/AIDS. However, Irungu, Varkey, Cha & Patterson (2008) study reports that HIV/AIDS is the main concern related to public health in Kenya. They have also addressed that acceptance issues of the use of VCT should be included while educating young adults. Contrary to that the study also focuses to enhance the awareness in the community and society related to early benefits of getting diagnosed with HIV to the earliest, and including VCT as a part of educational program of access to VCT testing sites should be encouraged to enhance the use of VCT.

Methods:

The designed methodology for the present research is primarily a qualitative and more youth focused study. Various set of methods are designed for the study including, written procedures such as essays, questionnaires, etc. It will also make use of visual procedures such as drawings, illustrations, charts and figures along with some role-plays which are designed to lead towards group discussions focused on HIV/AIDS among young adults. Some background information is also required to enhance the educational procedures, for that purpose group discussions and interviews will be conducted.

To identify various impacts and influences data will also be collected from written records that are on sites and communities in order to check the validity of the information given by youths. Observation will be a topmost priority along the whole study to save the general context. Using this context information, data analysis will be done qualitatively. ("2000 KEN: The Impact of HIV/AIDS on Education in Kenya and the Potential for Using Education in the Widest Sense for the Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS | Evaluation database | UNICEF", 2018).

The objectives of the study are designed to identify the prevalence, characteristics, and the availability of information about HIV among youths along with the existing interventions of the disease. The processing of methodology is designed for Nakuru Kenya.

Conclusion:

The study will reveal the role of education as an important tool in the spread of HIV/AIDS. It will also help the young adults to identify that which type of information is beneficial for them among various informations. They will be able to differentiate among the relevant and non relevant information. The study will also reveal various perspectives of educating young adults on HIV/AIDS and how it will lead to positive impacts on them making them more aware and responsible about the dangers related to HIV.
